Service Description

Parenting That Works Practical, Science-Based Strategies for Real Family Life Tired of repeating yourself, negotiating over everyday requests, or wondering why your child listens sometimes—but not others? Parenting That Works combines the science of behavior with a compassionate, practical approach to parenting. It’s not about permissive parenting, rigid rules, or expecting perfect behavior. It’s about understanding why behavior happens, teaching the skills children need, and learning how to respond intentionally—while maintaining connection, clear expectations, and healthy boundaries. This workshop is intentionally kept small to create a more personal, interactive learning experience, with time for questions, discussion, connection and real-life examples. You’ll have opportunities to explore how the concepts apply to the everyday challenges happening in your own home. In this live parent workshop, Samia Ahmed, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with more than 25 years of experience supporting children and families, will break down the behavior science behind cooperation, resistance, and follow-through—and translate it into strategies parents can actually use in everyday life. You’ll learn: Why children may resist, ignore, or struggle to follow directions How the way we give directions can affect follow-through How reinforcement can encourage cooperation and positive behavior Common patterns that can unintentionally contribute to power struggles Practical, science-based strategies you can begin incorporating into everyday routines You’ll walk away with a better understanding of why everyday parenting struggles happen and practical tools to create more consistency, encourage cooperation, and respond with greater confidence and intention. The goal isn’t perfect behavior or instant compliance. It’s helping parents understand behavior, strengthen their parenting toolkit, and create a healthier balance of compassion, connection, and clear expectations.
